Half-Mile Farm is located 2.5 miles from the center of downtown Highlands, about a five-minute drive. Since Old Edwards Inn is located in the heart of downtown, it is the same distance and time for anyone planning any activities there.

We provide an evening only dinner shuttle service for Half-Mile Farm guests to Madison’s Restaurant at Old Edwards Inn and Spa. The evening shuttle schedule may change based on availability and seasonality, so please inquire at the front desk for details.

No. All of our wonderful amenities such as the Serenity Spa, dining at J. Henry Tavern, and hosted events are solely for the enjoyment of Half-Mile Farm guests. Come and stay with us and see just how special a place we are.

While we do offer a list of lovely, relaxing spa treatments for our guests at our on-site Serenity Spa, we do not have a hair or nail salon on the premises. The Spa at Old Edwards offers a wider variety of offerings, including massages, facials, hair care, nail services, and more. Plus, your room-signing privileges make a relaxing day of pampering even easier. Please note that it is best to book your services at the time of your reservation to ensure availability.

Half-Mile Farm is strictly non-smoking (and non-vaping), indoors and outdoors. Guests violating this policy in public spaces will be asked to leave the property. Should it be determined that smoking has taken place in a guest room, a $250 cleaning fee will be placed on the guest folio at the time of discovery, either before or after check-out.

Yes! All three of our hotels have EnviroSpark electric vehicle charging stations. The charging rate is $3 per hour. Download the app to get started.

No. We do not have an indoor pool. Our seasonal outdoor pool is heated, but when temperatures dip too low the outdoor pool is closed. Guests of Half-Mile Farm can still enjoy free access to the indoor pool and fitness center at the Highlands Recreation Center.

Our outdoor pool is heated and open seasonally. It is a saltwater system instead of a typical chlorinated pool. You can read about saltwater pools here.

Poolside towels are provided, so there is no need to take your room towels when you go for a swim. If you plan to use one of the stand-up paddle boards at Apple Lake, either swing by the pool for a towel or ask any of our helpful staff members for a towel.

Yes! We have a year-round hot tub located next to the seasonal, heated saltwater pool.

Yes! As a guest at Half-Mile Farm, you have access to some Old Edwards amenities as well as room signing privileges.

Madison's Restaurant, the Wine Garden, and Hummingbird Lounge are open to the public for lunch and dinner. Only guests at Old Edwards Inn and 200 Main may have breakfast there. The Spa at Old Edwards is also open to the public for treatments and use of the spa amenities—including the Spa Café—on the day of a scheduled treatment(s). It is best to book Madison’s dining and The Spa at Old Edwards services at the time you book your room reservation, as these tend to fill up well in advance. 

Another perk for Half-Mile Farm guests is access to the private Old Edwards Club. This Tom Jackson-designed course offers one of the most beautiful and challenging golf games in Highlands. Guests may also book a round of golf at The Saddle—the lighted, 12-hole, par-three walking course at the private GlenCove community. Built for all ages and skill levels, it features a putting course and short-game practice area.

Please Note: Only guests staying at Old Edwards Inn have access to the pools and fitness center there.

We don’t charge a resort fee. Just come and enjoy yourselves!

No. Self-parking is available at our property at no additional charge.

We are happy to say that our guests can once again enjoy walking the secluded path behind the Inn as well as along the gravel road beside Apple Lake. In the surrounding area, including downtown Highlands, there are several fantastic hiking trails for all fitness levels. Learn more in our Adventures & Excursions brochure.

No, pets are not permitted on the property. Only service animals as defined by the ADA are permitted and must be under the handler's control at all times. Please Note: Emotional support, therapy, comfort, or companion animals are not considered service animals under the ADA; therefore, we do not allow them on-premises. Guests violating this policy will be charged a minimum $250 cleaning fee and asked to leave the property. There are now select dog-friendly rooms available at our 200 Main property.

While we have seven room types in the main Inn and up to five cabin rooms currently, the style and decor of each room will vary in color, design, and specific layout. Many returning guests enjoy discovering the individual character and charm in each room.

Cancellations made by 4 pm at least 14 days prior to arrival will result in a full refund of your deposit. Cancellations or changes to the dates of your stay made within 13 days of your scheduled arrival will result in forfeiture of your deposit. Early departures will be charged the amount of your stay in full. To cancel a reservation, please call 866-526-8008.

A deposit of the first night's stay is charged at the time of reservation.

Yes, we do. Several actually :) and they are happy to assist you to your room and help familiarize you with our Inn upon arrival.

We have many in-room amenities to make your stay more enjoyable including complimentary Wi-Fi, in-room safes, premium cable channels, in-room phone and voicemail, Frette linens, clock radio, coffee/tea maker, iron and ironing board, heated marble bathroom floors, eco-friendly bath amenities, and oversized showers.

Absolutely! We’d love to help you arrange a little something special. You can purchase add-on goodies while making your online reservation. This can also be arranged directly with our reservations team, (press option 1). However, if your request is made within 24 hours of your arrival, gifts may not be in your room in time for check-in. Please allow a minimum of 24 hours for orders to be processed. Thank you!

While we have wood-burning fireplaces in some of the common areas, including an outdoor fire pit. All guest rooms feature gas fireplaces.

During peak occupancy, we may occasionally have two-night minimum stay requirements. We may even have three-night minimums on a few holidays and during large, town-wide events. You can check your dates here, and see what packages are available during your preferred times. 

Guest check-in is at 4 pm, and check-out is 11 am.

Yes! We offer a delicious complimentary chef-prepared breakfast every morning and light fare at J. Henry Farmhouse Tavern.There is also a wonderful variety of restaurants ranging from fast food to casual and fine dining in town, just 2.5 miles away. Our dining guide outlines the wide array of options you can try while staying in Highlands. Dining at J. Henry Farmhouse Tavern is exclusively for guests of Half-Mile Farm.

Included in the price of your stay are fresh, chef-made breakfasts served every morning from 7:30 – 10 am and social hour hors d’oeuvres each afternoon from 5 – 6 pm.

Delicious soups, salads, sandwiches, and weekly specials are available for purchase at J. Henry Farmhouse Tavern, which is open from noon to 10 pm daily.

Dining at J. Henry Farmhouse Tavern is exclusively for guests of Half-Mile Farm.

Your stay at Half-Mile Farm also includes room-signing privileges at the Old Edwards Inn restaurants in downtown Highlands. Transportation to some of Western North Carolina’s best restaurants, including the elegant Madison's Restaurant, al fresco Wine Garden (in season), lively and social Four65 Woodfire Bistro + Bar, unique Grill Room at Old Edwards Club (in season), and the parlor-style Hummingbird Lounge can be arranged in the evenings.

The chef does his best to accommodate special dietary restrictions and requests. Please provide this information during the reservation process, and follow up with a reminder at check-in.

Yes! We have plenty of brochures about the area located at our reception desk, and all of our staff members are happy to give personal recommendations as well. Just ask and let us help you discover why Western North Carolina is so amazing.

Unfortunately, we cannot customize the physical gift cards themselves.

All traditional gift card orders with a physical card are mailed via USPS or FedEx. They can either be mailed to you or directly to your recipient. Please allow a minimum of 24 hours to process the order and account for the additional days for delivery by mail.

If ordered online, you may choose either an e-card to be instantly to the provided email address or a physical gift card to be mailed either to you or the recipient of your choice. The physical card will typically be a warm gray color with the Half-Mile Farm logo. If supplies run low—like during peak gift-giving seasons—your recipient may receive a brown gift card featuring the Old Edwards Inn and Spa logo. The cards work identically and are packaged with a beautiful holiday or signature greeting card and may be customized with a handwritten message. Our gift cards have no expiration date; however, we cannot replace them if lost.
