A night full of flavor awaits you as Chef Joe Kindred of Kindred in Davidson, NC and Steven Satterfield of Miller Union in Atlanta bring their contemporary and upscale cuisine of the new South to Half-Mile Farm.
Chef Joe Kindred is the chef/owner of both Kindred and Hello, Sailor in Cornelius, NC. He steers the ship with his wife, Katy. Before the couple married, they had dreamed of opening a restaurant. When they wanted to move closer to family, the Kindreds uprooted and moved back to North Carolina, where Joe hired by Chef Jim Noble to be the chef for Rooster's Kitchen Uptown and lead culinary manager for Noble's four restaurants. Back in North Carolina, they began to work on realizing their dream of a restaurant of their own. They did so with their namesake Kindred, housed in one of the city's most historic downtown buildings, followed two years later by Hello, Sailor, located on Lake Norman at a location that he frequented growing up as a child. Chef Joe has been a semi-finalist for the James Beard Best Chef: Southeast in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.
Joining Chef Joe Kindred will be Steven Satterfield, the executive chef and co-owner of Miller Union-an award-winning, seasonally-driven restaurant located in Atlanta's Westside neighborhood. Since opening in 2009, the restaurant has received various honors on many national lists including Eater, Bon Appetit, Food & Wine and Esquire. In 2015, Satterfield released his first cookbook, Root to Leaf, to broad critical acclaim. In 2017, after four previous nominations, Satterfield was named "Best Chef: Southeast" by the James Beard Foundation. Satterfield's dedication to seasonal cooking and his unwavering support for local farmers is the driving philosophy behind his restaurant and everything he does.
